I was a little girl
alone in my little world
who dreamed of a little home
for me
I played pretend
between the trees
and fed my houseguests
bark and leaves
and laughed
in my pretty bed
of green
and I had a dream
that I could fly
from the highest swing
I had a dream.
Long walks in the dark
through woods
grown behind the park
I asked God
whom I supposed to be
the stars smiled
down on me
God answered in
silent reverie
I said a prayer
then fell asleep
and I had a dream
that I could fly
from the highest tree
I had a dream.
Now I'm old and feeling gray
I don't know what's left to say
about this life
I'm willing to leave
I've lived it full
and I've lived it well
there's many tales
I've left to tell
and I'm ready now
oh I'm ready now
I'm ready now
to fly
from the highest wing
I had a dream.

Hi there! Thanks for visiting. thank you thank you!!! Is the baby on the picture yours? So lovely and the poem as well!
ReplyDeleteThis little one is most definitely mine. She's so "quiet" when she's asleep!
ReplyDeleteOh this is so beautiful. Your portrait captured so much treasure. Thank you for commenting on my blog about my art. It means a lot. Like many mixed media artists today, I paint intuitively, from a place deep within. It so so comforting to know there are others out there who "get it."
