To have all my recollections drift away like sand in the wind. . . to be amongst my loved ones and not know who they are. This can only be described as absolutely heartbreaking. When my good friend Mark Cobbold asked me to view his photography site, I came across a page he dedicated to his father, Les, who is suffering from the latter stages of Alzheimer's disease. Moved by a passion for photography, and a devoted love for his father, Mark has put together 41 Shots, a request to fellow photographers to submit one image to be considered for a collage. The photo collage would then be auctioned off with all proceeds donated to the Alzheimer's Society. I have the same fear... one of the reasons why I photograph, write, and scrapbook.

ReplyDeleteLisa, my Great Grandmother suffered from Alzheimers. I was not around when it got really bad though. I am so sorry that your Gran is going through this. I cannot even imagine what you and your family must be going through. {big hugs}
Jamie encouraged me to submit my "Simple Life" photograph (the tire swing at the river) because he said it makes him think of childhood... or as I told your friend Mark, as John Lennon put it, "Once upon a time there were no problems." This is such a great project and I can't wait to see the final collage!
